On June 6th and 7th of this year the second KAMPF Converting 4.0 network meeting took place. After the successful kick-off event at KAMPF in mid-November 2017, this time codecentric AG from Solingen hosted the event. codecentric AG is an expert in agile software development and innovative technologies. Approximately 500 employees at 15 European locations work on future solutions in the areas of Big Data, Performance Solutions and other topics. As a partner of the Converting 4.0 network from the very beginning, the company was involved in the development of the integrative KAMPF platform the@vanced.
The invitation to the headquarters of the software developers in Solingen was accepted by participants from more than 40 companies. The evening event offered a good opportunity for the first personal exchange in the special environment of the developers, as well as the possibility to experience concrete examples of digitization. Blockchain, Augmented Reality, smart building control, simulations or Federated Platforms aroused the interest of the participants and got them in the mood for the following day's event.
After the welcome by the board of codecentric AG Rainer Vehns and the managing director of KAMPF Dr. Stephan Witt, site manager Lars Rückemann led through the day. Maik Krüger, Head of Strategic Product Management KAMPF, after an excursion into the past, present and future, tuned in to the planned Open Space Format. Dr. Donatus Weber, Head of Innovation and Industry 4.0 KAMPF, reported on the latest network activities and outlined an exciting look at digitization based on five theses. Felix Heuer, consultant and cultural architect of Innodrei, answered the question of how digital change can be implemented. In his keynote speech, he spoke about the need to fundamentally change the corporate culture for successful digital change. He presented a framework to identify culture, identify key challenges and contradictions in the organization and establish a new cultural architecture on this basis.
How can open source technologies in the context of industry 4.0 help to simplify communication with programmable logic controllers for plants or machines, increase development speed and reduce effort? Christopher Dutz took the participants into the depths of software development and introduced the PLC4X project.
The Open Space format, moderated by Nils Wloka, Agile Principal Consultant codecentric, served for the interaction of the participants on questions around digitization: How must leadership in digital times be designed? Who owns knowledge gained from data? In addition, there were discussions on platform economies and ideas for further cooperation.
Almost two days of living industry 4.0 guiding principle led to the conclusion that enterprises, which realize the digital change together and in the exchange, will profit faster and lastingly from the advancement.
Consequently, there is a common desire for a third Converting 4.0 network meeting.
